Supported phones

The Symbian.org widget is in beta, but should work on:

1. All Series 60 3rd Edition FP2 and later phones
2. Samsung Series 60 3rd Edition FP1
3. Nokia Series 60 3rd Edition FP1 phones with latest firmware update

Known issues

Application is still in active development and there are a number of known issues:

Some Vodafone users cannot access any of the feeds ("No messages" in forums/blogs/wiki)

This is a server / gateway problem. A server-side workaround is proposed and tracked as web bug here.

Workaround

The gateway behaviour can be disabled on a per-user basis:

• Open http://live.vodafone.com/myvodafone on your phone.
• In the Settings section, click on Web preferences.
• Select View web pages without speed and layout improvements.
• Uncheck Add a google search box....
• Uncheck Add a URL entry box....
• Click Save changes.

You can now use the widget without problems.

Discussion

This is a problem with Vodafone /Novarra gateway which non-compliantly transforms all content and adds advertising and such [1] [2] . We are working on automatically detection this situation and handling it on the server side [3]. If all fails, the widget will detect the problem and pop up a more detailed message.

Posting problems

Due to a server side issue, posting in the current version does not work. We are working hard on fixing this issue. The server-side issue is tracked here.

Browser cache and updates

If the automatic update appears successfull but the version remains unchanged, you may need to clear browser cache and repeat the update. To clear the browser cache, open web browser, then select Options -> Clear privacy data -> Clear cache.

Issues on 8910 HD

A problem has been reported on 8910HD with an early widget version (see below). Please retest with a recent version and comment.

On Samsung i8910 there is a problem expanding the blog entries. Forums and Wiki work as advertised. Here is the testcase:

1. launch widget
2. select "Blogs".
   1. the list of titles of blog entries appears.
3. Now click on a title to expand it.
   1. most of the time it doesn't properly expand.
