Roadmap for the Symbian Platform
From Symbian Developer Community
Welcome to the home of roadmap information on the Symbian developer website.
On this page you will find answers to the following questions:
- What is the schedule for releases of the Symbian platform?
- What features are coming up?
- Where can I find more detailed roadmap information?
The Schedule
Where are we going? The platform roadmap begins to answer this question, painting a picture of the future and charting the evolution of the Symbian platform. The platform evolves through contribution from the developer community and the plan reflects this, picking out highlight features from successive waves of innovation.
In addition to this the platform plan provides framework in the form of six-monthly releases that each draw together the latest stable features, providing convenient co-ordination points for contributors and a great starting point for device manufacturers.

The platform-level roadmap, like all other roadmaps on this site, is a living thing that adapts to reflect changing plans and is best viewed as a ‘plan of record’. The hope is that making this roadmap information centrally available will enable greater collaboration and more successful usage of the Symbian platform.
