Overview
This proposal covers development of a new package for the Productivity technology domain to enable seamless integration of social networks and web services into native applications. The package will contain a selection of libraries to make interaction with web services simpler from native Symbian applications. Additionally, the package can house concrete service stub libraries for popular web services. The development project for this contribution is likely to contain a small selection of these service-specific implementations for demonstrative purposes.
The generic enabling technology may provide implementations for popular web service protocols and methods such as:
- REST
- OAuth
- XML-RPC and XML parsing in general with a DOM-based approach.
Based on this work, it will be much simpler to contribute client libraries for popular social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter and My Space. The contribution may demonstrate this advantage by providing some example client library implementation too.
See the Social Mobile Framework overview page for further info and links.
