Podcatcher

The Podcatcher is a full featured podcast manager for Symbian. It is based on the codebase from the Escarpod podcatcher originally developed for UIQ, which has been updated for Symbian^3. There is also a working port for S60 3rd edition, Symbian^1 and Symbian^2.

If you want to test out Podcatcher, you can do so on any Symbian^1 or S60 3rd edition handset. Just download and run the below SIS file.

All planned functionality for Symbian^3 has been contributed. For Symbian^4 there is already a backlog.

Defect reporting

When you encounter a bug in Podcatcher, please help us by reporting it. Please supply a log file with the defect reproduced.

How to obtain logs

First you need to enable logging, which is done by creating the log target directory on your phone:

  1. Get a proper file manager such as Y-browser
  2. Create the directory C:\logs\podcatcher

(In the PDK emulator, the directory should be \epoc32\winscw\c\logs\podcatcher)

You can then obtain a log of the problem like this:

  1. Run Podcatcher and reproduce the problem
  2. Copy the file C:\logs\podcatcher\debug.log to your computer using Bluetooth or a USB cable
  3. Attach the log file to your bug report

Prior to raising a bug it is also advisable to check the list of previously fixed bugs to see if the issue was found before. If so 'please' reopen the corresponding bug rather than raising a new one.
