The Security domain covers a vertical slice of components responsible for providing security services to applications, for protecting the integrity of the device and for controlling access to data (including the user’s private information and purchased content).

Why

Security needs to be implemented as an integral part of all layers of the system, to be effective against increasing efforts of malicious parties to steal from and defraud legitimate phone users. Commercial content providers also require assurance that measures are in place to prevent unauthorised use of their content.

Who

Application developers, content and service providers and network operators are all impacted by security. Semiconductor partners and device manufacturers also need to integrate hardware security features into the Symbian Platform.
