SHAI is the Symbian Hardware Abstraction Interface. It defines a new, consistent hardware interface at the bottom of the Symbian platform software stack that is in many areas closer to the hardware, leading to a thinner (and easier to create/maintain) adaptation layer.

SHAI API Proposals

Looking for an API Proposal? You can find the main page here. Discussion on these proposals takes place in the relevant council forums.

SHAI Domains

To be more effective, we have classified SHAI into technology domains. This helps us bring in more focus to handle issues specific to a domain. To avoid any confusion, the split is mapped to the existing Symbian Foundation Technology domains but for the benefit of all, the broader (and more generally popular) names for each are given as well, along with the respective domain lead.

The SHAI Domain Split

We now also have separate landing pages for each domain, which are the information place holders and managed by the SHAI domain leads. These landing pages should help us track the domains better and provide a better interface to the community in general.
