Introduction

CardDAV is an address book client/server protocol designed to allow users to access and share contact data on a server. The CardDAV protocol is being developed by the IETF and and is currently an internet draft. Several vendors have announced support for CardDAV or already support it, such as Apple's new Mac OS Server 10.6

The latest draft can be found here: [1]. It is desired for Symbian OS to support this open standard to enable lots of different personal, business and enterprise use cases.

CardDAV acts the same way for contacts, as does CalDav for the calendaring world.
